About Gemma
Gemma is a Naarm/Melbourne-based harp performer and teacher. She has worked and played with numerous orchestras including the Melbourne Opera, Australian Youth Orchestra, Zelman Symphony and The University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra, and Wind Symphony. Gemma loves chamber music and collaborating with fellow musicians. She graduated her BH-MUS with first class honours from The Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and was the recipient of the Corrina D'Hage Mayer String Scholarship twice and the Cassidy Bequest Scholarship during her time there. Gemma’s educational foundation has been an immersion within performing musical spheres, studying at the Sydney Conservatorium High School and graduating at the Newtown Performing Arts High School in Sydney. Gemma has previously studied with teachers Louise Johnson, Camille Gold and Jacinta Dennett. She has had the opportunity to have masterclasses with world-class harpists such as Judy Loman, Alice Giles and, Heidi Lehwalder. Gemma is also a passionate teacher and is the current instrumental harp teacher at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School.

Honours at the University of Melbourne is an intensive one year program. Gemma was involved in the Music Performance specialisation which focused on solo, chamber and, ensemble performances.

The University of Melbourne
The Bachelor of Music at the University of Melbourne provided core performance and academic skills. Gemma majored in Harp Performance under the tutelage of Jacinta Dennett. During her time there she was principal harp for several programs for The University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony.
