Book Recommendations

Suzuki Books 1-4

Suzuki books follow the Suzuki Method. I highly recommend these books and method for young beginner students. This method encourages an aurally immersive environment to introduce students to songs. A great parallel to compare it to is learning how to talk before learning how to read or write. Technique and theory are still important for a well-rounded musician. These aspects become incorporated in lessons once some playing has been established.

AMEB Books

AMEB books are recommended for students who wish to sit examinations for their instrument. The AMEB books are available from preliminary to grade 4. From grade 4 onwards, pieces are sourced individually for exams. The AMEB also provides technical work books for preliminary - grade 8 as well as a sight-reading book. Bundles for these books are available which is a great investment.

Fun from the First I&II

Fun from the First books are great for students aged 10-mature aged. These books have a comprehensive introduction to the harp. This book has a lot of great folk tunes if that's your jam. If it is your first time learning any musical instrument, these books would be suitable for you!
